How to Care for Your Beyond Candle

Every Beyond Candle is handcrafted from premium soy wax and designed to deliver a clean, beautiful burn. Follow these care guidelines to get the most from every candle.

First Burn Matters

Allow your candle to burn until the entire top surface has melted on the first use. This prevents tunneling and ensures an even, long-lasting burn for every session that follows. For most candles, this takes 2-3 hours.

Trim the Wick

Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 5 mm (1/4 inch). This maintains a clean, steady flame and prevents smoke, soot, and mushrooming. Use wick trimmers, nail clippers, or scissors.

Burn Time

Do not burn your candle for more than 3-4 hours at a time. Allow the wax to cool completely before relighting. This extends the life of the candle and ensures consistent performance.

Placement and Safety

Always place your candle on a heat-resistant, stable surface. Keep away from:

• Drafts and airflow - causes uneven burning and dripping
• Curtains and fabrics - fire hazard
• Flammable objects - maintain a safe perimeter
• Children and pets - keep out of reach at all times

Sculptural and Pillar Candles

Candles without containers must always be burned on a proper candle holder or tray designed to collect melting wax. We recommend:

• Heat-resistant candle holders - ceramic, stone, or metal
• Our ALTAR and SANCTUARY accessories - hand-molded ceramic trays designed specifically for Beyond Candle sculptural forms
• Coconut shells or wooden trays - natural options that complement the aesthetic

Never place free-standing candles directly on furniture or unprotected surfaces.

Never Leave Unattended

Never leave a burning candle unattended. If the flame becomes too high or flickers excessively, extinguish the candle, let it cool, and trim the wick before relighting.

Wooden Wick Care

For our MOORED and HEART candles with wooden wicks, keep the wick short and clean. If the flame goes out, let the wax cool, trim the charred wood with your fingers or scissors, and relight. Wooden wicks produce a gentle crackling sound and a wider, lower flame than cotton wicks.

When to Stop Burning

Stop burning when approximately 1 cm (1/2 inch) of wax remains at the base. Burning beyond this point can damage the surface beneath the candle or cause the holder to overheat.

Reuse with Intention

Once your candle has finished burning, we encourage you to reuse or repurpose your vessel or holder. Soy wax remnants can be composted, used as wax melts, or cleaned with warm water. Our ceramic accessories are designed to last well beyond a single candle.
